Philipp works mostly in metaphysics. He tries to articulate non-modal theories of essence, supervenience, truthmaking and determination, to understand the nature of representation and to defend the claim that exemplification (the having of properties) is a relation. He is also interested in the reality (or not) of relations, in Descartes and in the metaphysics of the mind. He got his first degree from the University of Berne (2000) and his PhD from the University of Geneva (2007). Philipp is currently research collaborator at the chair of philosophy of the faculty of theology of the University of Lucerne.
